Vybz Machine is more than just a sound, its all about the music and entertainment. Who is Vybz Machine, you ask? Chat ‘Bout was able to find some info on the sound…..
Vybz Machine, of Pittsburgh, PA, was the brainchild of King Fudge (now known as Fudgie Springer). Although Springer didn’t have a strong musical background, he did have a true LOVE for reggae and dancehall music. Like most Midwestern cities, the dancehall scene in Pittsburgh was lacking when it came to new music, trends and the latest dances. Although Springer attempted to close the gap by getting the latest tunes from Jamaica to the local sound systems, it was a small remedy to a bigger problem of getting Pittsburgh more updated with the latest dancehall tunes. By 2004, Springer linked up with friends Orio (now Unda Taker) and Butta (now Madd Sonic) to form Vybz Machine Entertainment.
In an effort to further promote dancehall, King Fudge was the featured host of the Pittsburgh reggae dat net radio show and website (http://www.pittsburghreggae.net/). As the popularity of the sound grew, King Fudge was soon dubbed as "the woman dem selector” and changed his name to Fudgie Springer.
MC Faya Ras joined Vybz Machine International in June 2005. Although Faya Ras was not affiliated to any sound system in the area, Faya Ras’ addition to the sound took Vybz Machine to the ‘next level’ as Faya Ras was regarded as one of the best MCs in Pittsburgh. The killer combination of Fudgie Springer and Faya Ras helped the sound win the first Pittsburgh sound clash in 2006.
The third component of Vybz Machine is the Undataker. As one of the original members of Vybz Machine, the Undataker is one the most valuable pieces of the sound. In addition to being a skilled DJ responsible for several of the sounds remixes, The Undataker is equally skilled in the field of graphic and web design.
In addition to touring and playing in many major dancehall markets such as NYC, Chicago, and Detriot, Vybz Machine has reached international acclaim by playing in various cities including Japan (alongside Mighty Crown) and Germany.
