It's Official - Bounty Killer signs with VP records!
VP Records seals exclusive album agreements with The Alliance and Bounty Killer. The indestructible force of The Alliance consists of honorary members, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Wayne Marshall, Vybz Kartel, as well as, new protégés Movado, Busy Signal, Aidonia, and Bling Dawg. In early 2007, The Alliance will release some of the baddest tunes on their debut album. Then in the summer of 2007, Bounty Killer will return with his solo album featuring all new material to make another mark in dancehall history.
This November, VP will reintroduce Bounty’s musical genius to the world with “Nah No Mercy…The Warlord Scrolls,” featuring 41 of his most esteemed hits over the last decade. Besides this collection, it has been over three years since Bounty Killer’s last solo album, so this much anticipated venture is long overdue. “Bounty is one of Jamaica’s greatest icons and has been in the business for over 10 years producing, dee-jaying and developing new talent. He will continue to build on these legacies during the development of his new solo album as well as The Alliance’s release,” states Bounty’s manager Julian Jones-Griffiths.
Since the early 90s, VP has been involved with Bounty Killer’s previous projects, including his last Ghetto Dictionary albums (the Grammy nominated “Art of War” and the successful “The Mystery”). CEO of VP Records, Chris Chin, elaborates, “It’s always a pleasure to work with a multi-faceted artist like Bounty because the opportunity is endless. Both Bounty and The Alliance have unique elements that appeal to both dancehall and hip-hop fans, so we plan to expand on this success and transcend even more borders.”

We at Chat 'bout Cleveland always reminisce about The Players Ball, Valentine’s Day Bashment,
etc. But one bash has remained a constant…
As sure as you can count on Christmas being December 25th and the club being a ram close to the first of the month, you can count on Maggie Untouchable’s Birthnight Bashment. Scheduled the first Saturday in November, this party is on this bashment girls’ DO NOT MISS list (along with her other Annual event in August). Similar to last years bash, Kameka is the additional headliner to this birthday extravaganza.

‘Dress to Impress’ (ohhhh) is the theme of this dancehall icon’s event, but as I can tell from the special guest list, is a must.
For the first time in Cleveland, all female soundsystem, 360 Ladies are scheduled to play a set. To learn more about this reggae phenom, go to: http://www.myspace.com/360ladies. Other sounds taking center stage include Cleveland regulars New Horizon, Star Temple and Unity Vibez.
This party tends to bring out a range of Dancehall Celebrities of past, present (and some future?). “I haven’t seen ___________” in a long time, or “What happened to her/him?” Is the phrases that come to mind at this event.
So get ready, get dressed and GO! See you there!

A Foundation Dance - 9.30.06
Once again, Dailey’s was the backdrop for the Saturday Night Bashment entitled “A Foundation Dance”. This reporter attended the event expecting to catch some great vibes with even better music. NOT! As a hardcore bashment girl who reminiscences on the days at Dad’s Hall and the now defunked Cotton Club in it’s day, I was a bit disappointed…..
Consider it a bad sign when the selector claims to be playing the latest tunes and his best dub plates and after the initial dances to the first few melodies, the crowd calms down and begins to look at their watches (and let out a few yawns!). The soundstation of the evening, New York bound Down Beat and Tony Screw turned this bash into a culture fest (is that what a foundation dance is?) neglectfully leaving out old crowd moving tunes and newer more recent riddims. I swear I wanted to snatch KC Platinum out of the crowd and force him to play a set.
By the time the local talent Sunshade and special guest Junior Reid took to the stage at about 3pm, the dazed and confused crowd welcomed the opportunity to catch a vibe. As we see it, the bash never reached its fully potential of a Father B Party, the days of the Players Ball when the party was in fully dancehall swing by 2am and didn’t want to leave as the bash ended at 4, 5 or even 6am.
Despite the down turn of events, some dancehall celebs blessed the event with their presence; Maggie Untouchable, The Designing Women Crew, dancehall royalty Eye (looking spectacular in a bone white tailored blazer and matching slacks) and KC Platinum were in full attendance. The added touch of the video cameras scanned the crowd for absentees like Ms. Brandi, The Bashment Girlz and The in and out Spyda Crew.
Stay tuned as CBC tries to redeem the bashment with the upcoming Blue and White affair for Saturday, October 7th…..
Stay Bashy!
