It's all about Dailey's Blue Mountain Inn - (again?)

It’s a tradition in Cleveland. If you’re looking for the local Jamaican eatery or anything Reggae – love it or hate- no matter how much you protest, kick and fuss – It’s Dailey’s. A resident of this great city for over 40 years, the successful businessman, Albert Dailey Sr. celebrated his annual BirthNight bash, Saturday, September 2nd with capacity filled adoring patrons. The theme, “Dress to Impress” (oh, so original, I know), courted patrons to wear their bashy best, and in accordance with the theme, there were no disappointments.

Well… maybe a few. Is it me of did some of us not see those BIG ASS posters in Dailey’s? Did they choose to ignore all the flyers spread out throughout the city? Go Figure. One good thing is the Hoodratic (pronounced HOOD-RAT-ICK)* bug did not bite all in attendance. The few violators were a bit unnoticeable, all except for the – oh-my-Gucci-the-black-and-white-herringbone-print-dress-disaster and the sprinkle of rack rats from Dots.

Fortunately, some amazing style was in the house like the love lady in pea green, (what a daring choice!) the appropriate accessories choice AND the cleavage were the buzz of the bash that lasted to well past 4 am., which is not unusual for Mr. Dailey’s Dancehall Dungeon -no pun intended (well, maybe). It’s rumored that Ms. Green was spotted with Mr. Albert Dailey himself. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Well, I can admit - I didn’t see them in to anything at his birthnite bash - nor did I see his lovely mate either.

And as a frequent patron I ask myself, why?

Dailey’s Blue Mountain Inn is the spot where you can get whatever you want - from scotch bonnets to J&B Scotch; The latest chat or the latest trends from certain Dancehall staples such as The God Bless Crew, Sherri, The Designing Women Crew and The Untouchable Crew. Some (and I will stress SOME) of Dailey’s Dancehall Darlings could be called the ‘Chosen Few’ in Cleveland that understand the difference between fashion, style and the happy place where they meet. Dailey’s await there dancehall arrival and when they appear it’s more like a secret weapon. On the radar then disappear, only to return red carpet ready at parties and yet no one really knows their real names and where they even come from – I will work on that!

If you missed it you have exactly 343 more days to prepare for the best party of the year it end that ends the summer and kicks off the fall. Speaking of the Fall, be on look out for the First Annual Fall Ball. …for those of you who remember Stabba you remember the best party the Friday night after Thanksgiving - need I say more?

Ciao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tattle Tale.

Leisa Engel's Birthnight Bash - 8.27.06

Whew!…As if the Full Throttle Fridays isn’t hot enough! As if DJ Chubby’s birthday bash wasn’t bananas! And if you missed the Anniversary Party – shame on you! The last few events surrounding WJCU’s Leisa Engel and DJ Chubby adds to the phrase – where’s there’s smoke there’s fire!

For those of you who consider yourself a regular of Friday nights at Caribbean Flavor, then the fact that Leisa Engel’s Birthnight bashment was a off the meter, came as no surprise. With a more than capacity crowd in the place earlier than usual, Caribbean Flavor was definitely the place to be on August 27th. With the weekly Full Throttle Fridays fast becoming a weekly staple of the local Dancehall scene, this Bash was an explosion of good vibes and even better music.

The guest of honor, Leisa Engel stopped the crowd with a sexy enough gold jumpsuit, accentuating her petite girly frame! Looking this good was a definite plus as this bash bought out any and everyone from the Reggae scene! Every girl should be that (golden) hot for her birthday! (Be sure to log on to the website –
www.caribbean-groove.com to take a look at more pics of the bash!)

With a mix of curious bashment seekers and the Reggae scene’s usual suspects, DJ Chubby was sure not to disappoint the crowd with favorite tunes from the ole’days of Dad’s Hall and Cotton Club to the sounds of today as some of the scene’s up and coming dancehall divas made their way onto the dance floor to showcase the latest dances.

Party onlookers were captivated by the dancehall stylings of Lady Spyder of the disbanded Spyder Crew, the famous whiny whine of Ms. Brandy and the Bashment Crew. Other dancehall celebrities in the crowd included Maggie Untouchable of the Untouchable Crew, 50% of The Designing Women Crew, Wayne of the Big Family Crew, the Reggae Boyz, the immortal KC Platinum and of course, Eye – The Dancehall Fashion Eye-Con, who never fails to disappoint.

Since we can always count on DJ Chubby and Leisa Angel to set the weekend on fire each and every Friday night, we at CBC cannot wait for their next event! Be sure to catch Caribbean Groove Radio Show, Saturdays on WJCU 88.7 from 8:30pm to midnight!
